A new world of choral expression
Contrast redefines what’s possible with choral music, pushing beyond traditional boundaries to showcase the human voice as a versatile, emotive instrument. Featuring 245 techniques performed by 19 members of the Eric Whitacre Singers including five Soprano, five Alto, four Tenor and five Bass, recorded at AIR Studios, this library brings a new depth to vocal sound design. These techniques range from soft murmurs to dramatic shards, with each voice captured in two distinct tones—‘Light’ and ‘Dark’. These tonal variations add expressive nuance, allowing you to create unique textures that shift and evolve dynamically in real time, making it an essential tool for composers seeking fresh, innovative vocal elements.
Scale Mode & Evo Grid Technology
The Scale Mode makes composing effortless by aligning any of the vocal techniques to your chosen scale. You can select from any of the seven diatonic modes, or even create your own scale. As you play, the Evo Grid system intelligently selects and recombines samples based on your input, triggering more complex intervals with higher velocities. This allows for deep customisation and layering of sounds, enabling rich, evolving textures across the keyboard. For an added spark of creativity, the ‘Feeling Lucky’ button generates random configurations, offering instant new ideas to take your compositions in unexpected directions.
Pushed to breathtaking extremes
The eDNA synth engine brings vocal performance into the world of synthesis, transforming the human voice into an array of electronic textures. With 24 warps and 92 presets the engine offers endless opportunities for sound design. Each sound bay functions like a mixer, giving you full control over trim, modulation, pitch, and filters, and allowing you to blend organic vocals with synthetic textures. The synth engine also features bespoke presets from three outstanding guest sound artists — Oscar-nominated composer Ryan Lott (Son Lux), Clark, and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith.
With its onboard gate sequencer and a suite of sound-shaping tools, the engine contains two sound bays much like a mixer, with individual and independent modulators, control of trim, bend, glide, cloning, tuning, ADSR, LPFs, HPFs and wobbles that modulate pitch, volume and filters. Designed for maximum flexibility, The eDNA engine offers limitless inspiration whether you’re a pop producer, beat maker, sound designer, or composer writing your next sci-fi, horror or game score.

Reviews
"What I love about Contrast is that it feels alive... it offers this emotional cinematic palette that evolves under your fingers, totally different to anything we've done before. Suddenly you can create these genuinely interesting emotional worlds." - Eric Whitacre (Grammy-winning composer and Conductor)
"The library is something special, and I know I'll make use of it in countless ways. I'm particularly excited about the ways the eDNA engine allowed me to come up with stuff that flirts with the edge of recognition of the raw materials as vocal-based. This will allow me to imbue non-vocal-based textures with an elusive sense of humanity, and also the other way around. So fun!" - Ryan Lott (Everything Everywhere All At Once)
"Intravenous inspiration: Eric Whitacre's Contrast is alive with organic nuance and humanity. It is richly vibrant and diverse in its offerings of aleatoric and gestural techniques. What a gift to have the unique signature of Whitacre's craft at our fingertips; an invitation for every composer to explore that which is soul-stirring and unexpected." - Stephanie Economou (Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Dreamworks’ Ruby Gillman)
