The streamlined free-form EQ
In the studio, efficiency is key. With MFreeformEqualizer, you can supercharge your workflow by reducing the time it takes to shape an EQ curve for any individual instrument, mix bus or master. Using the hands-on interface, simply draw in your desired EQ curve, and the plug-in will automatically match to the closest parameters. Now you won't need to mess-around fine-tuning parameters by adjusting gain, bandwidth, frequency and the like, instead if you know you need a brighter source, draw in a high-shelf, it's that simple.
More than just an EQ
Continuing where other EQs leave off, MFreeformEqualizer includes a variety of modes and features to make sure it can become your go-to for future projects. Automatic EQ matching lets you apply the exact EQ shape from one source and apply it to another, perfect for matching the vocal performance of a recording which took place between two different sessions in different studios with different equipment, or for getting closer to a reference mix when mastering an exporting your project. Additionally, this could also be used for EQ separation to reduce collisions between different instruments in the same frequency region, for example a bass and guitar. Best of all, when you capture the frequency balance from one instrument, this can then be exported as an IR (impulse response) file to be loaded in any future projects.
Comprehensive MIDI control
Having the freedom to draw your EQ curve isn't limited to a mouse and keyboard. With MFreeformEqualizer, the powerful MIDI processor lets you use a MIDI keyboard or controller to draw in parameters in real time.
In-depth visualisation
An important addition to EQ plug-ins, the MFreeformEqualizer features a raft of accurate visualisation tools to monitor your processing. Of course, your ears should be the final judge of your tone, but having assistance along the way is always useful. Extremely flexible, Melda's metering system includes classic meters, time-based graphs, individual meters for input, output, stereo width, loudness, frequency spectrum waveforms, bandwidth, gain reduction, sidechain and much more.
Store, save and share your presets
Once you have found a sound that suits the needs of your mix or project, Melda have included a carefully designed storage database to load up your presets in any future projects in any host. Inside the preset database, your presets can be automatically uploaded to a shared server where other like-minded users can download your presets. You can also download presets direct from the database to your plug-in and expand your collection of presets from other users in the community.
Automatic gain compensation (AGC)
When creating tones or browsing presets within Melda MFreeformEqualizer, you will only hear the change in sound that your processing applies and not the volume change. We can often be fooled into thinking that a louder sound is better without the context of hearing how it sounds when level-matched. Melda has included Automatic Gain Compensation across the entire plug-in which adapts to settings to ensure the output is only as loud as the input to make better mixing decisions.
Not only this, but Melda MFreeformEqualizer also features a Safety Limiter fixed to the output level at 0dB. This ensures that any adjustments to the output volume that you make in your processing won't go above digital clipping and will hit the brick wall limiter, saving your ears from any potentially harmfully loud sounds.
Audition multiple settings instantly
With such a wide array of different tones available inside MFreeformEqualizer, you might struggle to find which song fits your music the best. To help you quickly compare several different settings, Melda has included an A/B comparison switch. This lets you audition two settings simultaneously without needing to dial in the settings every time.
Taking it one step further, Melda MFreeformEqualizer includes A - H switching, offering up to eight slots of settings where you can freely switch between all eight to find the right sound for your song. Additionally, Slots A - D are available in the built-in X-Y pad, letting you blend between four potential settings and find the right balance between each of them.
