I Heart NY 2 is engineered especially for contemporary mixes that require loudness and impact without a loss of clarity but takes its inspiration from old-school DBX-style compressors from the 80s and 90s. These old compressors were basic and affordable but had an aggressive nature that wasn't matched by the more sophisticated compressors of the time, and are still used today for this very reason. I Heart NY 2 is inspired by this aggression but applies it to a modern effect with all the benefits of contemporary plugins. Featuring precision control, high-fidelity sonic quality and complex algorithmic features that don't destroy the signal even at high compression levels I Heart NY 2 is a powerful compression tool.
I Heart NY 2 produces high-quality and aggressive parallel compression effects through a simple and intuitive user interface; automatically splitting any incoming audio into two duplicates. One signal remains dry while the other is subjected to high levels of compression. I Heart NY 2 then presents you with its XY pad to take control over the balance of the two signals on the vertical axis and the compression amount of the wet track on the horizontal axis so that you can operate the most important controls with a single motion. While you operate I Heart NY 2's XY pad there is an autogain algorithm working to give you a consistent output level. You also retain control over the effect of the autogain with an adjustable slide to tweak I Heart NY 2's gain levels. While adjusting the XY pad an Adjusted Gain Reduction (AGR) value is displayed; taking into account current gain reduction and dry/wet balance that provides a value for compression intensity, so you can achieve surgical precision over exact amounts of compression.
Designed to be fast and intuitive but offering a comprehensive set of parameters that can be accessed through the tweak panel I Heart NY 2 gives you full control over the compressor.
A tweak panel features typical compressor controls such as attack and release or ratio but also offers a range of less common parameters for a nuanced touch. Emphasize attack transients in the compressed track with the "Punch" parameter, introduce harmonic saturation with the "Harmonics" parameter and add a custom 'smiley EQ curve' that brings out lows and highs for a present compressed signal with the "Shape" parameter. Furthermore, control whether the compressor works hardest on the high or low end of your signal with the "Tilt" parameter and finally the "Lo + Hi Preserve" parameter prevents the low and high frequencies from being compressed above or below the cutoff points.
I Heart NY 2 comes complete with a range of features that improve workflow and accessibility. These include 1x, 2x and 4x oversampling modes to ensure that you can push compression without any aliasing effects while balancing CPU performance. Typical solo, default save, reset default, bypass and resize features provide simple but necessary access options and a tooltip toggle provides explanations of each parameter as you use the plugin so you never got lost within I Heart NY 2's interface.
