It won't bite. But its sound has plenty of bite. The EVH Striped Series Shark is a piece of rock history, having become a huge part of the legendary Eddie Van Halen's iconic image. Legend has it that Eddie took a saw and cut out a chunk of his angular offset guitar, then painted his famous stripes onto the surface. The result was the Shark, which this guitar is modelled after. Loaded with EVH Wolfgang pickups, it is an instrument of immense sonic power, capable of firing out electric tone and handling even the most technical of guitar riffs.
Ferocious yet refined. Underneath the spectacular visuals of this guitar, there is a wealth of guitar crafting expertise which helps to bring it up to a professional standard. A maple neck, which increases in size the closer you get to the body, offers bright resonance and smooth manoeuvrability. On top of this, the pau ferro fretboard has a beautiful resonance and fast playability which allows you to fly around the frets unhindered. Sonic power. The EVH Wolfgang pickups in the neck and bridge positions will give you more aggression and bite than a deep sea predator. They have mountains of power with which you can make your music sound absolutely huge, and you won’t look back once you've heard their tonal dynamism. The bridge position will bring out the intricacies of your rhythm playing, adding definition and clarity as well as a tonne of raw saturation and attack. Even on clean settings it will produce a powerful response, making everything sound bright and emotive.
The neck pickup offers a unique character of its own. Coming with masses of warmth and saturated lead tone, it will make your solos shine with a flawless, full bodied sound. Your sustain will be massive and the feel of your licks will be as prominent and powerful as you want it to be. With a three way toggle switch to choose between them, each pickup will give you an outstanding level of performance and the ultimate mastery over your tone.
Neck of the Beast
Ferocious speed. You'll be swimming along the Shark's neck as you explore its silky satin finish. Built to accommodate fast, Van Halen type riffs, it offers the ultimate playability and unrestricted access to the fretboard. It comes with the EVH backshape, which is a modified version of a comfortable 'C' profile neck. As such, you'll have no trouble playing both rhythm and lead, as well as improvising on the fly.
