Equipped with a solid top, the guitar's tone is not only rich and resonant, but will only improve with age and the more it's played. Its solid sitka spruce top allows you to achieve a wide variety of playing styles and genres with an incredibly versatile response. Additionally, the solid sitka spruce top yields a crisp, articulate tone with a broad dynamic range, projecting a bright attack and superb clarity. The solid top is accompanied by layered copafera back and sides, which sonically and aesthetically resemble rosewood. Its layered copafera body also adds a complex, richly-lush tone to the guitar's sound. The overall tone produced is full, rich, and lively with an incredible dynamic range and the ability to accommodate a huge range of genres and playing styles.
Constructed from sapele the 214ce-CF's neck offers a well-balanced and consistent tone with excellent top-end shimmer. In addition, the neck has a satin finish for a smooth performance up and down the neck while preventing the likeliness of sticky 'gig-hands'. Furthermore, the neck is topped with an ebony fingerboard that adds a bright attack, superb sustain, and plenty of bite to the guitar's overall sound. Lastly, the fingerboard is sprinkled with small diamond inlays for added elegance to its premium and distinct appearance.
Bracing reinforces the guitar's overall structure, preventing it from collapsing under string tension. This specific type of brace pattern is forward shifted, allowing the Taylor's top to vibrate more freely. Furthermore, shifting the brace forwards enhances the guitar's tonal output whilst improving projection, volume, and sustain.
With a grand auditorium cutaway body, the Taylor 214ce-CF DLX Electro Acoustic provides a versatile performance, equally-suited to both fingerpicking and strumming techniques. In addition, the grand auditorium body offers a full low-end, a focused, present mid-range, and sparkles on the treble notes. Its unique and individual voice projects an impressive amount of balance across the tonal spectrum, producing a clear, well-defined tone. The Taylor's overall presence also fits beautifully well into a live mix, perfect for stage work, studio settings, as well as composing musicians. The 214ce-CF's body size falls between bold, brash dreadnought shapes and grand concert sized guitars, resulting in an incredibly versatile instrument that accommodates numerous techniques and genres with equal ease. This well-rounded, all-purpose electro acoustic also provides a comfortable playing experience due to its medium sized body and comfortable curves. Lastly, its Venetian cutaway profile also provides added comfort whilst offering easy access to upper frets and more challenging chords, enabling the player to perform more technical skills in more challenging positions with incredible amounts of ease.
The Taylor 214ce-CF comes equipped with a built-in expression system 2, perfect for the performing musician. This special design features an innovative behind-the-saddle construction that picks-up the Taylor's natural dynamic properties and projects them beautifully. The Expression System 2 features three pickup sensors, the location of these sensors enable more acoustic dynamics to be captured, resulting in an exceptional amplified tone and a superior response to each nuance of a player's individual style. Its Expression System 2 combined with Taylor's 'professional audio' preamp allows the player to simply plug-in to an amplifier, PA system or directly into recording software, faithfully capturing and projecting the 214ce-CF's stunning yet natural tonal properties. Furthermore, the 214ce-CF DLX also features three soft-touch rotary controls, allowing the player to accurately shape their amplified tone with ease, perfect for live, studio, and rehearsal settings. In addition, a player is able to adjust the bass, treble, and volume, perfect for experimenting with the Taylor's amplified tone to find a sound that suits an individual's musical style. These discreet controls are also easy to use and by rotating the controls back and forth. A player will feel a small bump that indicates the middle position of the control, meaning the control is turned off, and the centre point on the volume control indicates half of the highest amount of volume.
