Conn pride themselves on exceptional build quality. This is why all of their instruments are hand-built by experienced artisans in the United States. The 88H features a large .547'' bore which is typical of most premium symphonic trombones as it creates a warm and rich sound. The large 8-1/2'' bell is perfect for projecting this rich sound with plenty of resonance to the back of the biggest concert halls.
The closed wrap style of F tubing used on the Conn 88H is the most widely played in the world. It involves two loops turned on themselves with bends in the air column pathway. Several connections through the F attachment provide you with a compact and homogeneous sound. The Conn 88H comes with a professional hardwood shell case and Conn 5G mouthpiece, both specifically made for this instrument.
Much like most of the trombones from Conn, the 88H is constructed using rose brass. Rose brass is the material of choice for the majority of orchestral brass players as it has a darker sound compared to the more common yellow brass. To ensure that your slide is always fast, the 88H has a chrome plated nickel silver inner slide which also provides a bright and powerful sound to the performer. Nickel silver is used for many premium trombone slides because it's firmer and has greater corrosion resistance compared to standard brass. Once the 88H has been constructed, a layer of clear lacquer is applied to make sure the instrument stays looking newer for longer.
